San Jose Sharks Lucky Black Cat Finds New Home

Jo Pawvelski, the black cat that found its way onto the ice at the SAP Center in San Jose during the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs has found a new home. 

San Jose Sharks forward, Patrick Marleau and his wife Christina has adopted the cat. The cat found its way onto the ice during the Sharks second series against the Nashville Predators and became a good luck charm for the team during their run to the Stanley Cup Final. 

After running out onto the ice before the game on April 29, the cat had disappeared, but was later found by staffers from the team. The following day, she was brought to the Humane Society of Silcon Valley, where she was given the name Jo Pawvelski, in honor of team captain Joe Pavelski. 

As the cat was thought to be a good luck charm for the team, they setup a webcam in the room she was being kept in, while giving her Sharks blankets and playoff rally towels. Jo even had a Twitter account set up, with the handle @SharksBlackCat. 

On May 15, the Marleau’s adopted Jo, along with a second cat, they named Stanley from the Humane Society of Silcon Valley. Following the post season, Christina tweeted a picture of Jo updating her fans of her well-being. 

She also used the opportunity to encourage people to either adopt or make a donation to help the rescue and shelter animals.  

The Sharks had worked with the Humane Society of Silcon Valley, located in Milpitas, California to help find a good loving home for the cat as well as all of the animals in the shelter.
