The Boston Bruins announced on Tuesday that they have signed
unrestricted free agent Dominic Moore to a one-year, 900,000-dollar contract.
Moore, who spent the past three seasons with the New York
Rangers, put up six goals and nine assists in 80 games during the 2015-2016

added a goal.
Moore will be playing for his 10th National

Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo
Sabres, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks and Montreal
Canadiens he has scored 89 goals and 156 assists, with 427 penalty minutes.
Moore had a career high of 32 points, when he put up 18
goals and 14 assists during the 2010-2011 NHL season, with the Lightning.
The Rangers selected Moore in the third round, 95th

The Bruins also signed defensemen, Chris Casto and Alex
Grant as well as forward, Brian Ferlin to one-year, two-way contracts on
Tuesday as well.

The Las Vegas franchise has confirmed, last week, that they have registered the trademarks of three nicknames for the franchise. The names Desert Knights, Golden Knights and Silver Knights are the three potential names that have been trademarked by the club.
Team owner, Bill Foley, had said on July 13, that he had
hoped to have a logo and team name selected as quickly as possible, but
trademark issues have caused some of the setbacks in the selection. He is
hoping to have the name chosen before the two preseason games that the Los
Angeles Kings will play at the T-Mobile Arena, in October.
The Board of Governors for the NHL, awarded Las Vegas the 31st
franchise on June 22.
Foley said, “My goal
is to have a name that I can create a culture around and people, the players
and the fans will understand the connection and the names of the team and it
has to stand for a lot of things that I believe in, perseverance, dedication,
honor, never give up, never give in. All these things I am trying to put
together with a name.”
He added, “We want a
name to fit our goals and what we are trying to accomplish, and I am really
confident that we are going to hit it and do really well.”
Foley is a graduate of the United States Military Academy,
he had said one of his first choices was the Black Knights, which is the
nickname used at West Point, but that name did not go over well with hockey
fans.
He said, “I do listen
to what fans are saying. Black Knights is not a popular name generally speaking
amongst the fans. I think they would have loved it because I had a plan in
place about what the Black Knight would be and how we would promote the logo
and that name and that culture. But I believe we will do the same with the names
that we are coming down to.”
He did mention that Nighthawks was still on the table as a potential
name for the franchise, but that it is not his top choice.
