Albany Devils Resign Captain Rod Pelley to One Year Deal




The Albany Devils, American Hockey League affiliate of the New Jersey Devils announced on Wednesday that they have brought back captain Rod Pelley on a one-year deal. 

Pelley who just finished his 10th professional season, has served as the A-Devils captain for the last three seasons. Under his leadership the team has gone, 123-71-18-16, making the Calder Cup Playoffs during the 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 seasons. 

The 31-year-old forward has appeared in 676 professional games over the course of his career, including 256 in the National Hockey League. He has scored 65 goals and 61 assists in 420 AHL games, while adding nine goals and 20 helpers at the NHL level. 

His career has included two stints with the Devils organization, between the 2006-2007 and 2011-2012, he split time between New Jersey and the Lowell Devils. The end of the 2011-2012 and all of 2012-2013 season, he was spent time in the Anaheim Ducks organization, before resigning with the Devils prior to the 2013-2014 season. 

Pelley’s collegiate career was spent with Ohio State, where he put up 47 goals and 41 assists in 165 games. As a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Champions in 2004, he received All-Tournament Honors. 

The Devils signed him as a free agent following his senior season. He made his professional debut for Lowell, on October 7, 2006. His NHL debut came about four months later on February 1, 2007, with New Jersey.
