The New Jersey Devils and center Jacob Josefson agreed to a
one-year, 1.1 million-dollar contract on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old center, set a career high in assists with 10
and points 14 during the 2015-2016 National Hockey League season for the Devils.
In 238 career games, in six seasons with New Jersey, he has put up 17 goals and
33 assists, while only being assessed only 62 penalty minutes.
The Stockholm, Sweden native was the Devils first choice, 20th
overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The Devils also announced that they signed, left-wing, Luke Gazdic, to a one-year, two-way contract worth 700,000 dollars.
The 26-year-old Gazdic spent the past three seasons with the
Edmonton Oilers organization. During the past season, he appeared in 29 games, where
he put up one goal and accrued 24 penalty minutes. Gazdic added one goal and two
assists, with six penalty minutes in 11 games for the Bakersfield Condors of
the American Hockey League.
In 136 career NHL games, the Toronto, Ontario native has
scored five goals and three assists. The six foot four, 225-pound forward was
the Dallas Stars, sixth round pick, 172nd overall in the 2007 NHL
Draft. He spent four seasons with the Stars organization between 2008 and 2013,
in the AHL with the Texas Stars and the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads.
Gazdic played his junior hockey with the Ontario Hockey
League’s, Erie Otters.
Former Devils, fourth liner, Jordin Tootoo, signed a
one-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday as well.
